Quality Intervention under RMSA

Training of the Teachers

RMSA, Assam targets Holistic Quality development of the Secondary Education in the State by providing various training to the teachers and other staffs alongwith facilitating students in Curricular and Co-curricular issues.

Apart from subject wise trainings i.e. English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science & Classical subjects; training on areas like Leadership & Management, Disability, Adolescent & Gender, Environment, Culture & Heritage, Social & Financial Education, Life skills, Slow learning, Career Counseling, Disaster Management etc are also being conducted for teachers.

In the previous financial year 4252 school heads were trained on School Leadership Development in collaboration with NCSL, NUEPA. Apart from the same, 7336 no of teachers were trained on Science and Mathematics and 3600 no of teachers were trained on English teaching.

Learning Enhancement Programme

To identify the students having learning gaps in English and Mathematics, standardized tools were administered on 3,88,186 no of students studying in Class IX. Teachers were instructed on how to identify the students with support of that tool before introducing the intervention programme. 79,229 no of students were identified and provide intervention during the summer vacation. Post test was also conducted and results were properly analyzed. Considerable positive changes could be observed after the intervention.

National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)

It is a competency-based framework that organizes all qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude. NSQF in India was notified on 27th December 2013. NSQF was implemented from 2015 in Assam. In Assam 6 trades namely IT/ITeS, Retail, Private Security, Health Care, Agriculture, Horticulture have been notified as Elective subjects by SEBA under the scheme. Presently, the scheme is going on in 152 schools across the State.

Life Skill Training

Life skills would promote mental well-being, healthy social interaction and behaviour of the students help the students in solving problems, making informed choices and decisions and coping with emotions and managing stress, by engaging them through participative methodologies a means of empowerment for students to become responsible citizens.

All Govt./ Prov. Secondary /Hr. Secondary Schools of Assam have identified one Life Skill Facilitator/Teacher from each school to act as a Friend Philosopher and Guide for the student. All districts are set to hold the Life Skills training in December 2015 for the facilitators

All the facilitators/teachers trained have to orient their fellow teachers on Life Skills From 2016, one class each week under the co-scholastic period will be assigned as Life Skill for the students of class IX in all schools of Assam.

All the male teachers will also simultaneously orient a lady teacher from the school to actively participate in the proceedings of the sessions at school.

DRISTI

To provide quality and effective education to the students proper monitoring and evaluation will further bring effectiveness in implementation of correct methodology in teaching learning process and adherence of rules by the school authority.

To realize this vision RMSA, Assam funded by Govt. of Assam has taken up the programme DRISTI.

This programme is basically covering the evaluation of the following areas with the underlying objective as mentioned.

  • Assessment of School governance
  • Educational and Support Process
  • Performance Measurement and improvement at school level

To achieve all the above, district wise Resource Group is constituted. These Resource Groups have constituted from the teaching fraternity of DIET /B.Ed Colleges/BTC/CTE and also two renowned academics or Principals (State or National Awardees). Under this Resource Group one Assistant Resource Group per district is available. Each assistant Resource group persons is retired/local academician or members from district academic council who is visiting and monitoring each and every school under their jurisdiction for five times in a year. Visit wise data are capturing through a format and feeding in to the in house developed online portal.

The real-time field visit was started from December'2015 by ARP. Till Now 4th time school visit by the ARP of 19 districts have been completed.

Data Analysis of 19 districts have been done till third visit.

Positive impact after completion of 3rd Visit:

  • Teachers regularity have been improved.
  • Cleanliness of the school premises have been improved.
  • Record maintaining system of the schools have been improved.
  • Awareness programme have been done among the students in regular manner.
  • Use of ICT lab is improving.
  • Schools are more focusing on development of Physical, Co-curricular and extracurricular activities
  • Teachers are putting effort on inculcate good moral conduct and ethical values among the students.
  • Management of library and uses of library is improving.
  • Arrangement of providing counselling service to students for their career development is improved.
